I always thought of myself as someone who exercised regularly. The truth was that I lacked commitment and was always making excuses to miss a day at the gym. I felt there was something missing. I was happy with my body but I was always feeling tired and low on energy. For some years, my excuse for not being fully committed to feeling and looking great was not having enough time as I was always putting others first. I also created these mental rules that if I went to bed past 11 pm, I would be too tired to wake up at 5:30 am to exercise or if one of my kids woke me up in the middle of the night, was a good enough reason for not waking up the next morning.

Then, NLP came into my life! I realized that I was letting all these excuses control my life and the way I felt and looked.  I learned to just look at it through the lens that it was – an excuse. That’s all it took; nothing more than a change in my mindset. I consciously made a decision that I was going to look and feel my best at 40! I truly believe that by feeling and looking great I have become a better mother and a better partner as I have more energy, confidence and the mindset that I can achieve whatever I truly desire. You see, to get results requires having a very strong WHY. Why is this important for you? Your why has to be big so that when other things change in your life, you don’t go back to your old habits. You don’t go back to the excuses.

My big why came when I turned 40 and I realized I wasn’t living to my best potential.  I had a desire to be fit, strong, more confident and more energized. I truly believe that to be able to succeed and achieve your dreams you need to feel truly at home in your own body. When you look and feel great you become more in control and more focused, and when you are focused on your goal and have a big why then you wont have any more excuses.

Here’s the takeaway. Let your excuses be in your past. Agree with yourself to do only those things that will actually get you the results that you want. Tell yourself constantly: “I CAN! I CAN! I CAN! It is hard, but then if it’s not, then everybody would do it. Every day is an opportunity to change and what you do today is going to mould who you are to become; it doesn’t matter what you did or didn’t do last week. Start NOW!
